Over the years, I’ve met so many accomplished people who reach a point in their careers and quietly begin asking themselves:

They’ve accomplished a lot.

But they also know they still have something to give.

That is one of the reasons I believe coaching can be such a powerful next chapter.

Your Experience Has Value

When I founded Wainwright Global Institute of Professional Coaching, I wanted to help people develop the professional skills needed to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Since 2006, I’ve had the privilege of seeing thousands of people enter coach training from incredibly different backgrounds.

Some already knew they wanted to build a coaching practice. Others were executives, entrepreneurs, consultants, educators, managers, parents, or professionals looking for something more meaningful.

What many of them eventually discovered was that they weren’t starting over.

They were building on everything that came before.

The leadership experience.

The difficult decisions.

The successes and failures.

The career changes.

The conversations that changed them.

The lessons that could only come from actually living through something.

Those experiences can give you perspective. Professional coach training teaches you how to use that perspective appropriately while developing the skills to help another person discover their own answers.

Coaching Is More Than Giving Advice

This distinction is important to me.

A great coach isn’t simply someone with a lot of experience who tells other people what to do.

Coaching is about helping people move forward with their own goals. It means learning how to listen differently, ask thoughtful questions, challenge limiting beliefs, help clients clarify what they truly want, and support them as they create a plan and remain accountable to it.

That’s a skill set.

And it can be learned.

At Wainwright Global, our goal has always been to make professional coach training practical and accessible so people can develop those skills and begin applying them in the real world.
